Parent Communication
  • The majority of my parent communication this year has been via email. This method is the easiest for both parents and myself. Attached is a screen shot of parent communication via email.



  • Additionally, I have used the Community Portal to update assignments when appropriate.

  • This year I continued to use cel.ly with my students. This is a texting service that allows me to text students information or reminders without sharing personal phone numbers.


Professional Development

  • District Chairperson for the Mobile Learning Committee
    • This year, I was asked to chair the MLC. The MLC is a group of teachers, community members, and board members asked to research the future of technology in our district. As a committee, we recommending a pilot of iPads for the middle school. In September, I presented our recommendation to the board. Throughout the course of the school year, I planned and facilitated meetings of the MLC to plan professional development in anticipation of BYOD and a potential pilot in the middle school. This summer, I will facilitate a 3 hour session during one of our summer days.
  • Language Arts Content Specialist
    • As content specialist, I worked this year to create a cohesive department from two separate groups. Our focus this year was on curriculum mapping with a long-term goal of creating a curriculum guide that is an accurate representation of what our department, as a large group, covers. Below is a link to the Google Form that I created to help aid in the curriculum mapping process.

  • Principalship Certification Program through Edinboro University
    • This year, I continued the final courses in my principal certification program. As a professional goal, I would like to move into administrative roles. Eventually, I would like my focus to be on curriculum and instruction in a more supervisory role. It is my professional goal, as well, to obtain my doctorate in the near future.
  • PDS Program at Millersville University Mentor
    • Through this program, I work with an intern for the duration of 1 school year. This is my second year with a PDS student. This year, Sara Cozzens is my intern. Sara and I have worked together to develop her understanding pedagogy, as well as the logistics of being a middle school teacher. I will be attending a lunch to share information and ideas regarding this program on May 6th at Millersville.
  • Teacher Effectiveness Training- as a member of the pilot program last year, I developed a good understanding of the new system. This year, the professional development has been a good refresher of the system.
